SYDNEY: SBS (Special Broadcasting Corporation) journalist Essam Al-Ghalib interviewed the Armenian National Committee of Australia’s (ANC-AU) Executive Director, Michael Kolokossian for the network’s radio news program, which accurately characterised Azerbaijan’s aggression against Armenia.
The broadcast’s description read: “US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has paid Armenia a visit with the focus on security following the deadly attacks by Azerbaijan on the Armenian territory. This comes as Australia’s Armenian community calls on the Labor Government to make an official statement of condemnation against Azerbaijan.”
Kolokossian articulated the Armenian-Australian community’s demand of the Australian Government to hold all victims of all wars to the same standard, calling out Azerbaijan as aggressors like Canberra does to Russia in the case of Ukraine.
“Our community demands the Australian Government immediately and unequivocally stands in solidarity with a country that is hailed as a beacon of democracy in the Caucasus region. It is time Australia names the aggressor,” said Kolokossian.
