The situation of the combat against human trafficking and exploitation in Armenia was discussed

The Human Rights Defender held a meeting with the Director General of Democracy and Human Dignity of Council of Europe Ms. Marja Ruotanen

Within the context of the working visit to Strasbourg, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan held a meeting with the Director General of Democracy and Human Dignity of Council of Europe Ms. Marja Ruotanen, on September 27, 2022.
Ms. Grigoryan presented the violations of the rights of children as well as persons with disabilities as a result of Azerbaijan’s aggression, and mentioned to the direct targeting of civil infrastructures and civilians.

Moreover, the Human Rights Defender presented the details of the progress and achievements of the projects that are within the mandate of the Directorate General of Democracy and Human Dignity.

Ms. Marja Ruotanen thanked the Defender’s Office for the cooperation within the CoE national and regional programs and emphasized the importance of stable and constant cooperation between the two institutions.

The Human Rights Defender also held a meeting with the First Vice-President of the Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) Ms. Antoaneta Vassileva and the members of the Expert Group.

Within the framework of the meeting, the situation of the combat against human trafficking and exploitation in Armenia was discussed, making references to the national legislative regulations, to the status of the implementation of the National Action Plan against Human trafficking and Exploitation, the new NAP which is being drafted, to the response mechanisms of the law enforcement system within the framework of crime detecti process, and the activities of the Defender in this sphere.
