While Nikol Pashinyan’s Government consistently tries to justify the necessity for signing a peace treaty, Azerbaijan committed another war crime.
The killings of Armenian prisoners of war committed by Azerbaijani armed forces are another appearance of Azerbaijan’s genocidal policy which is patronized and protected on the state level.
Such war crimes violate all the mechanisms, all the requirements of the International Humanitarian Law, the international community defends, and by which states were obliged to be guided in their international relations.
Such crimes breaking the right to life of the Armenian prisoners of war fully violate the prohibitions set in the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War /ADOPTED 12 August 1949/, including violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture.

The Detaining Power is responsible for the treatment given the prisoners of war, thus I am going to urgently address the international organizations, all the international colleagues dealing with human rights to immediately exercise all the legal and political mechanisms to protect the rights of the Armenian prisoners of war being under the “humanitarian mandate” of the international community.
Such crimes by Azerbaijan’s military-political authorities should immediately be subject of investigation by the international court and the international community in terms of criminal law qualification, and those committed crimes should urgently be held accountable.
