“I don’t think we should talk about the war and not say that we don’t want to make efforts for peace,” Armenian Human Rights Defender Kristine Grigoryan said at a press conference, answering a journalist’s question about the report published by the Human Rights Council and the assumptions made based on it, and as a result of the stories of the Armenian prisoners, is the official policy of Yerevan correct in terms of achieving peace with Azerbaijan?
Kristinne Grigoryan stated that the barbarities committed by Azerbaijan and numerous violations of human rights are facts that should be put on the negotiation table. The human rights defender also assured that the residents of the border settlements of Armenia are most interested in establishing peace with Azerbaijan and are confident that peace will ensure their security. In any case, the residents of the Armenian border settlements conveyed such opinions to the human rights defender during various meetings.
“We should not fall into other extremes, saying that if we are in such a situation, we should arm ourselves and attack. This is the most destructive thought. We must make efforts to achieve peace and we must constantly work in that direction,” assured Christine Grigoryan.
