Signs of Decaying Country

October 14,2022 13:33

Regardless of the political regime in a country, and even regardless of the corruption level, there are certain standards, which can help determine how productive the state’s mechanism is. For instance, how exclusive the right of legal violence is in the state. Obviously, every country should have one national army. If this principle is broken, clearly the state has a problem. Such an example is Russia, where aside from the national army, “Wagner’s group”, “Chechen National Army”, “The prisoners’ army” and others exist.

Even if the national army is not capable of completing its tasks, a situation like this cannot be allowed: the existence of autonomous armed groups is alarming, and no malice is intended. The decay of the Russian state is not beneficial to us at all.

Back to Armenia, where the display of the state collapsing is not the tragedies we experienced, but rather the attitude people have toward them. During the last decade, the first serious strike our state faced was in 2016, when the so-called “Sasna Tsrer” (“Daredevils of Sassoun”) seized the police regiment. The problem is not the crime of the marginal armed group, but rather the encouragement from the majority. However,  this way people express their attitude not towards the despicable government but the state institutions.

The same thing applies to a situation where the head of the executive branch sends the mass which worships him to block the judiciary buildings. Again, a ridiculous idea born out of one person’s mind is not relevant. What is relevant though, is that the idea of state institutions disassembling receives public support.

The defeat in war and the indifference of the majority of Armenians are the links in the same chain.

Imagine that the plans of destroying the educational system belong to the same category, despite any business components those plans contain. The breakdown of existing (certainly not perfect) systems can be perceived as another strike toward a sovereign state, without exaggeration.
