On October 15, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia received the members of delegation of the National Council of Switzerland: parliamentarians Mr. Stefan Müller-Altermatt, Mr. Michel Mater and Secretary General of the Switzerland-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Mr. Sargis Shahinyan. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Armenia, H.E. Lukas Rosenkranz also took part in the meeting.
Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan, welcoming the delegation of Swiss parliamentarians, expressed gratitude for the visit to Armenia and Human Rights Defender’s Office of Armenia, then presented the functions, role and mandate of the institution.
In her speech, the Defender referred to the ongoing violations of human rights and the humanitarian situation as a result of the military attack of the Azerbaijani armed forces on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on September 13-15, and presented the war crimes recorded in the Defender’s ad hoc reports. “There is no security without human rights, and human rights are not guaranteed without security”- emphasized Grigoryan.
The Defender answered the questions of members of the delegation, including the priorities related to the protection of human rights in Armenia. The members of the delegation expressed gratitude to the Human Rights Defender for her work.
