After the deputy of Russian State Duma Konstantin Zatulin’s ban on entering Armenia, editor in chief of the “Russia Today” news agency, Margarita Simonyan, who is originally Armenian, made a post in her social networks saying, that her entrance in Armenia is considered unwanted.
“Aravot” sent an inquiry to Simonyan’s press service to clarify who, when and for what reason banned Margarita Simonyan from entering Armenia. Margarita herself answered the inquiry, noting:
“I can only say that I received a notification from a reliable source regarding my inability to visit Armenia. I have no idea what could be the reason. Prohibiting an Armenian from entering Armenia is an innovation in the history of our nation.”
Let us remind you, that one day after the K. Zatulin incident, the speaker of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova announced, that they are clarifying the reasons for the incident through diplomatic channels, and added that if the information is confirmed, it will be difficult to name this action friendly and corresponding to the allied nature of Russian-Armenian relations.
