Garo Paylyan, the only Armenian deputy of the Turkish Parliament who arrived in Armenia to participate in the Pan-Armenian Summit, had several meetings with the former and current leaders of Armenia.
Aravot.am found out some details from the meeting between Garo Paylyan and the third president of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan. Particularly, Garo Paylyan tried to propose the idea of national unity, emphasizing the option “of helping Nikol Pashinyan ”. Serzh Sargsyan categorically opposed Garo Paylyan, saying: “What should we help him with? Treason?” Serzh Sargsyan also added that as long as Nikol Pashinyan is the leader of Armenia, “the state of Armenia and Artsakh will deteriorate”, there will be no prospects for both of the sides, therefore, uniting around a person who caused the situation, which has no proper ways out, is simply out of the question.
At the initiative of the Turkish MP, a large part of the conversation between Serzh Sargsyan and Garo Paylyan was dedicated to the “peace treaty”.
Serzh Sargsyan clarified his attitude towards this issue as well, saying that there is no case in the history of humankind when a peace treaty is signed with someone who is asking for it – that is a case of a capitulation. “A peace treaty is signed if you are powerful, therefore, these theses of peace are false and have no real political and geopolitical bases.”
