The two-day international conference “Alternative Investments in Armenia” launched in Yerevan, with the participation of more than 150 representatives from Armenia, the United States, United Kingdom, and Curaçao. The conference brought together investors, representatives of venture firms, family offices, financial institutions, private companies, government and embassies on one platform. The conference is organized in cooperation with Orion Worldwide Innovations and BDO Armenia.
Venture, and Corporate Venture funds secure investments in startups, innovative projects, and stimulate economic growth. The conference’s agenda includes important topics related to the sector: global private equity market trends, private equity as an alternative asset class for making smart-money investments, how Armenia can differentiate itself in the international market etc.
The BDO Armenia specialists will be present throughout the two- day conference as advisors to provide primary insights to companies on tax and legal topics.
“Alternative investment sources will stimulate the flow of money into the economy to support innovation, increase productivity, and enable multi-generational and institutional capital management,” said Emma Arakelyan, CEO & Founder of Orion Worldwide Innovations.
“Today, the financial market of Armenia consists of about 10.3 billion US dollars in credit investments, 3.6 billion state bonds, 1.1 billion corporate bonds, 670 million of issued shares, while the funds allocated in the economy by private capital funds are less than 200 million dollars. In countries with developed financial ecosystems, private equity funds have volumes comparable to bank lending and stock market capitalization. One of the goals of this conference is to promote the fastest growth of alternative investments, which will ultimately contribute to economic growth and the creation of public good,” said Aleksandr Shaghikyan, Partner, Head of Advisory at BDO Armenia.
The main goal of the conference is to create opportunities for the growth of alternative investment sources in Armenia. At the same time, the forum is one of the important events for the activation of the Digital Julfa Network, in addition to attracting investments for Armenian startups.
