During the protest action on November 11 in the center of Baku, about 150 people were detained, Zafar Ahmadov, a member of the human rights organization Line of Defense, who was monitoring the demonstration, told Turan. According to him, another group of people were detained before the start of the action.
The human rights activist said that the lists of detainees are being specified.
Ahmadov drew attention to the fact that, compared to the previous action, this time the police used excessive force. During the arrest, in particular, Tofig Yagublu, a member of the National Council and the Musavat party, and a number of other activists were severely beaten. Pressure was also exerted on journalists, the human rights activist continued. At the same time, the “innovation” was the appearance among journalists of persons posing as reporters who pushed and interfered with the work of media representatives, Ahmedov further noted.
It should be noted that the action, which began at about 16:00, lasted for about an hour. All this time, numerous police officers detained at the “Icheri Sheher” metro station everyone who chanted slogans or was heading in a group towards the Baku Executive Power building.
