European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Transition Report 2022-23
On 22 November, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) released its ‘Transition Report 2022-23 – Business Unusual’.
The report examines the tectonic changes that the EBRD regions face: global pandemic, supply-chain disruption, extreme weather, war in Europe, forced migration on a massive scale, rocketing gas prices, high inflation, debt burdens, etc. It also presents an in-depth analysis to inform public policy and business decision-making.
“One thing is sure: decision-making under extreme uncertainty is here to stay,” says Beata Javorcik, EBRD Chief Economist, in her foreword to the report. “Governments and firms will need to equip themselves better in the face of this formidable challenge. And while they are implementing short-term stabilisation measures in response to the immediate storm, policymakers and business leaders should keep their eyes firmly fixed on the long-term prizes: green energy and free trade – the foundations of future economic growth.”
