Our commitment is the establishment of peace in the region: the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, the Head of the NA Armenia-Germany Friendship Group Vladimir Vardanyan said at the meeting with the Member of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany Christian Haase, the Director of the Foreign Affairs Division of Free University of Berlin Doctor Herbert Grieshop, the Director of the Scientific Services Hotline Unit Doctor Andrew Trampe, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia Viktor Richter.
Vladimir Vardanyan highlighted the efforts of our country aimed at ensuring peace and stability not in the region, but also underlined the necessity of support of the EU democratic countries in that issue.
According to the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, peace is a bilateral process. “We are ready to go for peace with an authoritarian state, but reaching peace is a bilateral process,” Vladimir Vardanyan noted and added that Armenia lives under everyday threat of the Azerbaijani aggression.
As Vladimir Vardanyan assured, it is more complicated in Artsakh. “We can have genocidal situation in Nagorno Karabakh,” the Head of the NA Armenia-Germany Friendship Group said.

He also mentioned that Artsakh connects Armenia and the civilized world with five-kilometre road, which is regularly closed and opened.
In the opinion of the Member of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany Christian Haase, the conflict should be solved through peaceful, negotiation way. “The problem should be solved through the establishment of equal relations and economic ties between each other,” Christian Haase noted and documented that they critically approach the Azerbaijani aggression. “Azerbaijan should realize that each aggression will turn the region into explosive barrel,” the Member of the FRG Bundestag said.
At the meeting reference was also made to the EU Mission to the region. As Vladimir Vardanyan assured, the EU Mission is of important significance in the establishment of peace in the region: “We consider that after September 12 the EU Mission brought stability in the region,” the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs said. According to Vladimir Vardanyan, though Armenia is a small country, but it is a border between democracy and authoritarianism, international law and aggression, democratic values and real politics.
The deputy of the NA Civil Contract Faction Lilit Kirakosyan, thanking the German guests for the sincere talk, underlined the importance of the development of the Armenian-German inter-parliamentary relations.
The interlocutors also exchanged ideas on the expansion of the inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries, reaffirmed the commitment of ensuring the continuity of the current work in the cooperation activeness. Bothe sides highlighted the joint efforts of activating the cooperation in the spheres of mutual interest were emphasized.
Vladimir Vardanyan expressed hope that, as a result of bilateral meetings, the inter-parliamentary relations will reach to a higher level.
