1lurer.am. On December 3 and 12, a group of Azerbaijanis closed the humanitarian corridor connecting Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to Armenia for ‘environmental’ reasons. The operation of the corridor is defined by the clause 6 of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020. Artsakh’s Human Rights Defender warns of a possible humanitarian crisis.
‘Lurer’ tried to find out from the EU foreign policy office what the structure headed by Josep Borrell thinks about the closure of the Lachin humanitarian corridor by the Azerbaijanis. EU foreign policy Spokesman Peter Stano, in response to ‘Lurer’ inquiry, said:
“The EU is aware of the various developments around the Lachin corridor since 3 December. We are also closely following today’s developments.
The EU has no presence in Karabakh that would allow us have a better understanding of the situation, but we do follow the numerous Armenian and Azerbaijani reports from open sources. We are also in contact with officials, both in Armenia and Azerbaijan.
