On December 14, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan hosted the participants of “4th Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the UN special rapporteur Mr. Fabian Salvioli and the Head of the UN Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar, Nicholas Koumjian.
The topic of the 4th Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide was “Prevention of Genocide in the Era of New Technologies”, and was dedicated to the issue of genocide prevention in the age of new technologies.
During the December 14 meeting, the Human Rights Defender and the forum participants discussed the challenges, opportunities and prospects of using new technologies in the prevention of genocide.
The Defender presented factual circumstances related to spread of Armenophobia by Azerbaijan on social networks. In particular, the defender presented the facts regarding the consequences of the Azerbaijani military aggression on September 13-14, 2022.

According to the Defender, it is worrying the spread of hate speech based on ethnicity and religion, as well as gender, are encouraged by the Azerbaijani state, and are of a continuous nature. Ms. Grigoryan also expressed her concern that, unfortunately, such hostile speeches find its response among the Armenian public.
The Defender referred about the blockade of the only road connecting Artsakh with Armenia and the world by a group of Azerbaijanis, as well as the cutting of the natural gas supply, emphasizing that around 1,100 people are deprived of the opportunity to return to their homes, including more than 270 children, and 120,000 people living in Artsakh stand on the threshold of a humanitarian disaster.
Ms. Grigoryan emphasized that international organizations should not ignore similar early signs of genocidal policy, which would serve as a means for effective prevention.
During the meeting, Ms. Grigoryan answered the inquires of the guests, and presented the mandate and functions of the Human Rights defender, and the activities conducted.
