Ambassador Tracy reiterated U.S. position calling on Azerbaijan to restore free movement though the Lachin corridor

In her farewell calls with Armenia’s government, political, and religious leaders, the civil society, and the diplomatic corps, Ambassador Tracy praised the positive trajectory of the U.S.-Armenia partnership, based on shared democratic values, and underscored the United States’ support for Armenia’s sovereignty and independence.

Commenting on the current challenges, she expressed concern over the humanitarian implications of the ongoing closure of the Lachin corridor for the population of Nagorno-Karabakh and reiterated U.S. position calling on Azerbaijan to restore free movement though the corridor.

In her meetings with Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and National Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan, Ambassador Tracy stressed the U.S. commitment to furtherance of a sustainable, lasting peace for the South Caucasus.

In her call on Ombudsperson Kristinne Grigoryan, Ambassador Tracy praised Armenia’s commitment to human rights as a key element of our shared democratic values.
Meeting with National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan and Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan, the Ambassador lauded the important cooperation between the United States Congress and the National Assembly of Armenia, which had culminated with the visit of Speaker Pelosi to Armenia in September.

Speaking with Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, State Revenue Committee Chairman Rustam Badasyan, and Central Bank Governor Martin Galstyan, Ambassador Tracy praised Armenia’s investment potential and highlighted the importance of economic development to Armenia’s future.

While meeting with Armenia’s Catholicos Karekin II, Ambassador Tracy reiterated her hope for peace, despite the current challenges.

The Ambassador praised the close working relationship between the Embassy and the Yerevan Municipality in her meeting with Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan.
