Why was the gas supply restored? Was there any precondition? – I don’t know. There may be no precondition for Artsakh, but it was for Armenia. Former RA Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan expressed such doubts on the live broadcast of the “Mirror” club. According to him, Azerbaijan has closed the Lachin corridor because there are two red lines for Azerbaijan: to achieve complete control over the Goris-Stepanakert road, which is not provided for in the agreement of November 9, and to achieve the opening of the corridor to Nakhichevan, which is part 3 of the agreement of November 9, written very vaguely.
He read the Russian version of the deal, stating that Azerbaijanis should pass unhindered on the road leading to Nakhichevan, whose security and control the Russian troops would ensure. According to Bagratyan, in the Russian version of the agreement, it is not written that the Armenian side should give something, but it is noted that there should be a new communication. He showed the communication path on the map, according to which “We shouldn’t fool ourselves, it’s not about this railway passing through Meghri, because there are already Russian border guard troops here on the Iranian border. With the war of September 13-14, Aliyev reminded us that we are talking about a 5 km road, which will eventually include Tigranakert (Kyarky). Aliyev says, “You signed this; it’s signed, isn’t it?” If the corridor goes like this, 50-60 thousand people will have to be displaced, except Kyarky. And in that case, we have to get permission to go to Meghri. After that, the Azerbaijani army enters and blocks the road to Syunik.
“Would we be able to send a tank or a cannon to Syunik in that case?” Hrant Bagratyan said. He reminded the claims of Armenian state officials that they allegedly did not make such a promise. “Finally, Nikol Pashinyan spoke about it, as if answering me, he said, ‘It is ignorance to assume such a thing.’ Why is it ignorance? Why are you insulting? You can call it a traitor or audacity, but why is it ignorance? Isn’t it written? He says that there was no verbal promise. Of course, we should not give any corridor, and the Russians spared us. They did not write the word “corridor.” There was a written promise, just not the word corridor. But for us, if Pashinyan had a conscience, for the sake of the motherland, he should have left, and the new leader should have said that there is no such thing, and in that case, Aliyev cannot say. “Do you remember these words we used to say?” said the former prime minister.
Bagratyan does not share the opinion of some that Azerbaijan wants to destroy the Artsakh Armenians. In his opinion, Azerbaijan wants to keep the Artsakh Armenians hostage against Armenia. “After opening the road, it is possible to discover Azerbaijan broke something they had already promised. If Azerbaijan closes the road and then opens it, it gets something. Having created this mess, Aliev took advantage of it and, in the meantime, announced that he was withdrawing from the negotiations. This means that the OSCE Minsk Group no longer exists,” concluded Hrant Bagratyan.
