On December 20, NA Vice President Ruben Rubinyan addressed the opposition’s criticism of the Berdzor Corridor issue at the extraordinary NA session. “Let’s read the statement of November 9, which the “Armenia” alliance had no intention of canceling and does not have. The sixth point: “Lachin Corridor with a width of 5 km, which will ensure the connection of Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia and bypass the city of Shushi at the same time, remains under the control of the Russian peacekeeping troops.”
“According to the November 9 announcement, it is neither under the control of the NK Defense Army nor the control of the Armed Forces of Armenia. It is under the control of Russian peacekeeping troops. They should directly control that corridor. Azerbaijan, for its part, has undertaken not to endanger the free traffic there in any way”.
“Now, Mr. Minasyan, dear colleagues, do you agree that it follows from the statement of November 9 that the created situation should be resolved by the implementation of the following two components: firstly, Azerbaijan should stop violating point November 6 November 9, and secondly, Russian peacekeeping troops should restore their direct control over the Lachine Corridor. If you agree, come and say yes. But don’t come and say that the government is the only one responsible for it or that the government is trying to put the responsibility on others. Or let Serzh Sargsyan not say: show us what the peacekeepers should do. I am saying what they should do; point 6 of the November 9 announcement says what they should do, they should control the Lachin Corridor,” said Rubinyan.
