At December 20 sitting, by the established order of Article 135 of the law NA Rules of Procedure the parliament debated the issue of the election of the candidate for the judge of the Court of Cassation. The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) nominated the candidacies of Lusine Abgaryan, Rubik Mkhitaryan and Davit Vekilyan for the vacancy of the judge of the judicial composition of the examination of the corruption crimes of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Court of Cassation.
The President of the Supreme Judicial Council Karen Andreasyan presented the candidates’ biographical data, the professional characteristics and work activity.
Rubik Mkhitaryan, presenting his views in his activity sphere, spoke about the effective fight against corruption and in that context the role of the Anti-Corruption Chamber of the Court of Cassation.
The candidate assured that he will serve his professional knowledge and experience for the increase of the authority of the judiciary in our country.

The next candidate Davit Vekilyan opined that the judicial act should be motivated as much as possible, which provides and reflects the independence, competence, accessibility and impartiality of the court. As the candidate assessed, the judicial act shall be presented available that even the people not having professional knowledge can perceive it.
In Davit Vekilyan’s opinion, there is lack of covering the activity of the judiciary, which in case of filling in the huge work done will be visible for the public. He highlighted the continuous improvement of the knowledge and skills, the use of the international colleagues’ possibilities. The candidates also spoke about the problem of the court loading.
Let us note that the candidate Lusine Abgaryan was not present at the sitting.
The deputies Vigen Khachatryan, Andranik Kocharyan, Vladimir Vardanyan and Gurgen Arsenyan touched upon the candidates’ professional high qualities, spoke about the problems of the justice sphere, the existing justice challenges, the civil society-court relationships.
