Armen Khachatryan, deputy of the ruling “Civil Contract” faction, trusts the RA Foreign Ministry and its work. ”If the Foreign Ministry decides not to participate in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan in Moscow, then there were sufficient grounds for this”. The deputy of the ruling faction said this in a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly. To another question: Is Yerevan directly negotiating with Baku to open the Berdzor corridor? He answered, “Negotiations take place through mediators, and the whole responsibility of this problem is the Russian peacekeeping forces, they deal with these problems; they also negotiate with the Azerbaijani side.”
After restoring the gas supply in Artsakh, and the information he received from the peacekeeping troops, there was a high probability of opening the corridor. “But we have to take one thing into account: the negotiations are with Azerbaijan, and we all know Azerbaijan’s way of working. Azerbaijan has signed and made commitments more than once, but these commitments remained in the air.”
Armen Khachatryan assures that the negotiations for the opening of the corridor are proceeding in all dimensions. “A few days ago, you saw the Session of the UN Security Council, which was also a severe international pressure. The question is whether these pressures will be enough for Azerbaijan to stop its provocative actions. As of now, unfortunately, the road remains closed. It means that our work should be more active and should continue. Works are carried out in several directions, including the execution of the functions of Russian peacekeepers. Of course, there are demands on the Russian peacekeepers to solve the problems before them, but the question also arises whether they can solve them. Yes, they can solve this problem. It’s just a matter of time; everything should be done to prevent the escalation processes, and it takes some time”.

Responding to the observations of journalists to the accusations of the representatives of the ruling political power and the prime minister of not fulfilling the obligations towards the Russian peacekeeping mission, and to the response of the Russian President’s spokesperson on that occasion, Armen Khachatryan said:
“The most important task is to ensure the free movement of the Lachin Corridor. Today, that function has been disrupted, and the peacekeepers cannot fulfill their assumed obligation. The Armenian authorities made an assessment that they are not able to fulfill their obligations. It is a record of the actual situation, but we hope the peacekeepers will fulfill their obligation soon.” Armen Khachatryan also stated that the Russian peacekeepers are under pressure from Azerbaijan and Turkey, but the corridor should be opened without preconditions. The representative of the ruling power considers it unlikely that a peace treaty will be signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan by the end of the year. “In this tense situation and studying the rhetoric of Azerbaijan, I think that no document will be signed.”
