Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan boycotted the Bayramov-Lavrov meeting. Did he do the right thing? Did the negotiations reach a dead end? Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the “Hayastan” faction and the former Minister of Defense of Armenia, answered this question in a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly.

“Today’s authorities have taken those negotiations along the path that the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem wants. They are giving up Artsakh. The fact that they refuse to go to negotiations is unacceptable. Contrarily, the place of those negotiations is a platform where you can use simple negotiation tactics and ingenuity to explain to the whole world, as well as to the people sitting in front of you, what the interests of the Armenian people are.

They are in this situation because they are playing double games. Russia is the only guarantor of Artsakh with its peacekeeping activities today. Even though there are certain problems, there are shortcomings. We must fight for the interests of Artsakh and the Armenian people. They go to the West, the document of the Washington agreements, etc. I don’t say that we should not go for peace, we should not have relations with the West, but we should look at the reality of today’s situation, the real guarantor of today in Artsakh, which can use the appropriate tools on the spot, is the Russian Federation”.
