“Our troubles started when they started thinking that Artsakh is a burden.” Demonstration of the mother of the martyred hero near the government building

Mrs. Ohanjanyan says: “Isn’t it possible to finally stand up as a nation and show the world that we are strong, we have a homeland.”

Elizaveta Ohanjanyan, the mother of hero Arman Ohanjanyan, who voluntarily participated in the 44-day war and died, was protesting in front of the government building with her son’s photo in her hand. She issued a statement and appealed to mothers who lost their sons in the war, asking them to join.

In a conversation with journalists, she said. “After 2020, I don’t celebrate the New Year. Since it’s a family holiday, I’m celebrating at my son’s graveside. It’s hard for me to look at my son’s picture, very, very hard.

Only parents like me will understand how excruciating it is. With this action, I wanted the passers-by who will come to the Christmas tree to be happy and admire the lights to say once again; you must remember our sons. These boys died for the motherland. He went knowingly and perished. He also wanted to live; he had a 7-month-old child, and he wanted to raise and educate his child as a father. But when the fateful hour came, the native land was more important for him than the child, the parent, because he understood that if he died, but the homeland remained, his child would live, and the parent would live. Everyone will continue their work. When he was going to the battlefield, he said to his wife. “I am going so that my son will not have a reason to go to the battlefield when the time comes.”

With this demonstration, Ohanjanyan’s mother wants others to wake up because the motherland was not only her son’s.

“We are losing our motherland piece by piece,” -she said.

After the death of her son, the land of Artsakh became even more sacred for the mother. “The blood of our boys spilled there; how can we allow a Turk to walk on that land? Aren’t you Armenians? Don’t you have a conscience? How long has the population there been under siege? Admire the Christmas tree again, and celebrate the New Year, but do you imagine what is happening there? Is it impossible to finally stand up as a nation and show the world that we are strong and have a homeland?

Let the Armenian nation celebrate the New Year, which I don’t have anymore. I don’t have a holiday at all. Let no one tell me: life goes on, time will heal, no.”

According to Mrs. Ohanjanyan, our troubles began when they thought Artsakh was a burden or why my son should go to serve in Artsakh. The indifference entered the hearts of many of us. She gave an example. “A person next to me said: they would provide Meghri and Kapan; the other said: no, they will not give Meghri or Kapan, be calm. I turned around and said, “Nothing that they want to give Artsakh, so should we stay calm?” The answer was: “well, it’s Artsakh; let the people of Artsakh think.”

“If there are people with this mentality around us, I have to brainwash similar people in the same way that we cannot change the motherland for anything. I hate the person who lives abroad and does not think he has a homeland; he believes it is good to live here. Let them live, but they must keep the memory of these boys alive. I came here not to ask for it but to force it.”
