Gagik Melkonyan, deputy of the “Civil Contract” faction, claimed that Artsakh was under siege by Russia. According to him, the Russian Federation closed the Berdzor corridor because it wants to include us in the union state, but we are not doing it, which is why there is pressure. These observations of Gagik Melkonyan have given rise to discussions, Aravot.am asked him whether there was a mistake. Did you need to formulate your thoughts correctly? He answered: “The blockade of Artsakh was the second “Koltso” operation. There was one in the 90s, which can be called the second. “Operation Koltso” was carried out by Russia with Azerbaijan, and the same plan continues to depopulate Artsakh.
He answered the question: “Do the Armenian authorities have no responsibility?” “They do everything. If you read the statement of November 9 carefully, in point 6, When the Armenian troops themselves withdrew from Artsakh, that is, they said that the Russians were taking responsibility for the security of Artsakh. The 5 km wide Lachin Corridor should ensure uninterrupted traffic from Artsakh to Armenia and vice versa. Now that the corridor has been closed, Russia should ensure that it does not happen. If he doesn’t do it, depopulation is already starting.”
To the question: of whether we have anything to do there or not, if we criticize Russia, what alternative ways do we have, he answered: “We appealed to all international structures, all states and received a response to open the corridor immediately. The UN Security Council will force Azerbaijan to open the way.”

Gagik Melkonyan responded to the observation that Azerbaijan appealed to the ECHR, complaining that Armenians destroyed hundreds of Azerbaijani objects in Aghavno and Sus, are criminals, etc., saying that those Azerbaijani troops entered the corridor of Berdzor and put themselves in the place of eco-activists. “As if they are nature lovers, tomorrow they will become firefighters, etc.”
When we conveyed that the opposition tells you: if you cannot open the corridor, leave, people will come who can bring change, he replied. “Will they come and open? What do they do? Is it their dream that they will join the union republic? If you remember, Lukashenko said: Armenia has no place to run; well, Armenia has no place to go, and do you think anyone needs them? Lukashenko says: Well, we entered the union state; who are the Armenians not to enter, so you have no other way. The opposition offers: do go, hand over the power to us, and we will save Armenia and Artsakh.”
Melkonyan responded to the observation that they have been doing it for 30 years.
“What did they do for 30 years? They only damaged; what agreement did they have that they brought us and left our people and Artsakh behind on this day? They could have solved this issue then, but whenever Levon Ter-Petrosyan said, they said: not an inch of land. Not a single inch happened; there was much of it.”
