Yaël Braun-Pivet, Speaker of the National Assembly of France, who arrived in Yerevan, addressed the question that Azerbaijan denies the existence of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and rejects the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship in a briefing with journalists at the RA National Assembly. She emphasized that today there is a need to return to dialogue. “The Minsk group is one of the dialogue platforms and not the only one, but it is essential. Each side must accept that it is necessary to return to that dialogue. We call for a return to the discussion within the OSCE Minsk Group framework. And all measures should be tried to ease the tension of the situation. The role of RA is essential to say what conditions will allow returning to the dialogue.”
RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan also mentioned that 1-2 other formats had been created, somehow trying to replace the MG format. “Nevertheless, the USA and France repeatedly said they are ready for continuous cooperation. The Russian Federation has also announced that it is ready to discuss the fate of that format, but let’s note, we have two more formats dealing with the issue at the initiative of France and Moscow. By constantly keeping the issue of the Minsk Group format on the agenda, we should not reduce the importance of other formats.”
