On January 13, at the NA Foreign Relations Committee session, the draft NA statement on the regular closing of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, which was put into circulation by the Armenia faction, was discussed. While presenting the project, faction deputy Andranik Tevanyan said that many human rights are being violated and that keeping 120 thousand people under siege is an ontological problem.
According to Tevanyan, Armenia must fulfill its commitment to guarantee the security of Artsakh, realize the right of self-determination of the people of Artsakh and implement the principle of “secession for the sake of salvation.” “If Armenia does not carry out these functions, it means that our compatriots of Artsakh are not only threatened by Azerbaijani actions but also by RA’s position.”
Tevanyan said that the authorities of Armenia accept Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan and consider that the people of Karabakh should communicate with Baku within the framework of Azerbaijani legislation. The views of Armenia and Azerbaijan are identical in this matter, and their targets are also similar: Russian peacekeepers are targeted. The authorities of Azerbaijan and Armenia are also targeting the leaders of Karabakh. This one month showed what the policy adopted by the RA government could lead to. The Lachine Corridor was closed not only due to the criminal actions of Azerbaijan but also because of the agreement reached in Prague last year. An agreement was reached there that Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan. Aliyev announced this in an open text at the CIS summit held in Astana, there were statements from various centers, and he did not receive any response.”

According to Tevanyan, the Lachin corridor will remain closed until Armenia’s position changes. “The basis of our statement is the need for political change. RA should pursue the issue of realizing the right to self-determination of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and should not be guided by the false theses of “Give Karabakh to live in peace,” “Give Karabakh to save Armenia.” We believe that the security systems of RA and Artsakh are interconnected.” Tevanyan assured that Pashinyan accepted the Washington plan in Prague.
