During the discussion of the draft NA statement “Regarding the regular closing of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan” at the NA Foreign Relations Committee session, CC faction MP Gurgen Arsenyan said. “If the RA leadership considers that it is against the RA state interests to conduct military exercises in the RA state territory, it means that there are grounds for this. The RA leadership serves the RA state interests; you are trying to represent the interests of another country because the RA leadership makes decisions straightforwardly and responsibly.
Don’t try to portray serving our state interests as a weakness.” He emphasized that there has been a change in the RA political agenda. “We have stopped being dumb henchmen of our partners and allies. It’s time for our partners and allies to imagine what it means to be an ally.” Arsenyan assured that he said about it both during the meeting with the speaker of the RF State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin and during the meeting with Valentina Matvienko.
Arsenyan said: “The fact that some Russian leaders are implementing the process of strengthening the Armenian security systems is obvious to us.” He was ready to give details in private conversations. “We will serve our state interests. We will make decisions in the process of serving our state’s interests. Those decisions can be painful. At first glance, it may be incomprehensible to some people, but these decisions are based on the RA state interest. We are not RA national figures; we are state figures.”

According to Arsenyan, when the oppositionists constantly tell the people of Artsakh that they will be genocided and unable to live there, they put our compatriots of Artsakh before a heavy choice: leave the homeland or be massacred. “That is your offer to them. I have no such offer to my compatriots who live in Artsakh because those people have lived there for 2000 years and will live for another 2000 years.”
