“One of the primary features characterizing the authorities of Armenia is irresponsibility: It is expressed in many directions, starting with the obligations undertaken towards the Armenian people, ending with the Constitution and laws,” Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the “With honor” faction, told reporters in the National Assembly.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the press conference that he did not consider it appropriate to hold the CSTO military exercises in Armenia, so they informed about it through official channels. He explained that if the CSTO military exercises are done and go, it will threaten Armenia. To what extent was this position correct, Tigran Abrahamyan answered.
“If that approach guides us, the RA armed forces should not carry out any military exercises or measures to increase combat capability. After all, we are talking about the CSTO military-political alliance, and conducting military exercises in that format, as well as in general, is primarily aimed at increasing the combat capability of the armed forces. In the case of the CSTO, it is also aimed at harmonizing the troops within it.” According to Tigran Abrahamyan, the position of the Russian Federation and the CSTO to hold these military exercises in Armenia this year had a political purpose. “According to the situation created in Armenia, I consider this a step to support Armenia. The decision of the Armenian authorities is not understandable to me in a big way, and I don’t see it being favorable for Armenia.”
