On January 23, the plenary session of the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) started in Strasbourg. On the first day of the plenary session, among several questions, the discussion of current issues on the topic “Humanitarian consequences of the blockade of the Lachin Corridor” or the question of organizing a debate with an urgent procedure was also included. On January 23, it already became known that if the Assembly votes to schedule a discussion on this topic, it will be without a discussion of the final document.
Then, the Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on State-Legal Affairs, a member of the Armenian delegation to the PACE, and Chairman of the PACE Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee, Vladimir Vardanyan, announced in his Facebook post that the PACE decided to discuss the issue of the humanitarian consequences of the Lachin Corridor blockade on the agenda of this session. Thus, on January 23, during the plenary session of the PACE, the issue of organizing a current discussion on the blockade of the Lachin Corridor was approved by voting.
The discussion will take place on Thursday, January 26, in the second part of the plenary session, after 17:00 Strasbourg time.
