On January 25, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan received Anne Toft Sørensen, the newly appointed Ambassador of Denmark to Armenia (residence in Tbilisi) on the occasion of handing over the copies of credentials.
Deputy Minister Hovhannisyan congratulated Anne Toft Sørensen on assuming the responsible mission and expressed hope that the newly appointed Ambassador will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between Armenia and Denmark, as well as further expanding the bilateral agenda.
During the meeting, the interlocutors touched upon a wide range of issues on both bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including partnership within the EU, highlighting the importance of the Foreign Affairs Council decision to deploy a long-term Monitoring Mission in Armenia.
Deputy Minister Hovhannsiyan briefed the Ambassador on the dire humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from the blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, the challenges threatening the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and stressed the importance of clear statements and efficient steps by international partners to stop the illegal blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh and prevent ethnic cleansing of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.
