Deeply understanding the complex geopolitical situation around Artsakh, the complex relations between the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair states, the “5165 movement” on January 27 appealed to the embassies of the Russian Federation, the United States of America and Russia in the Republic of Armenia to convey to the respective governments the blockade of Artsakh by humanitarian air cargo transportation making the proposal to mitigate the resulting humanitarian disaster.
Earlier, on January 25, the same issue was raised before the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs to find out whether the Republic of Armenia is taking steps in this direction.
Air humanitarian cargo transportation is an effective means of mitigating the disastrous humanitarian consequences of military blockades. Bright examples are the successful cases of air humanitarian cargo transportation in West Berlin (June 1948-September 1949), Biafra (1967-70), and Sarajevo (1992-1995).
The question of breaking through the blockade of Artsakh by foreign partner countries with humanitarian air cargo transportation is occasionally discussed in various public circles. On January 25, Artsakh Minister of State Ruben Vardanyan also addressed the issue in an interview given to meduza media.
