On January 31, the Head of the NA Armenia-Slovenia Friendship Group Seyran Ohanyan, members Arman Yeghoyan, Tsovinar Vardanyan, Gegham Manukyan and Mariam Poghosyan met online with the Head of Slovenia-Armenia Friendship Group of Parliament of Slovenia Dean Premik and the members.
Welcoming the colleagues, Seyran Ohanyan noted that the RA National Assembly highlights the role of the parliamentary diplomacy within the framework of the inter-state relations.
“We highly appreciate the friendly warm relations with Slovenia and the effective tie between the Friendship Groups of the legislative bodies of our countries, as well as the more deepening and strengthening of the close and constructive parliamentary dialogue with Slovenia,” the Head of the Armenia-Slovenia Friendship Group said.
Seyran Ohanyan emphasized the visit led by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Urška Klakočar Zupančič being expected in the near future. He underlined that it is a wonderful occasion to more develop and strengthen the cooperation between the two parliaments.

Seyran Ohanyan presented the situation in the region, touched upon the blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, underscoring the letters by the NA President Alen Simonyan and on his behalf regarding the problem, which were sent to the President of the National Assembly of Slovenia and the Head of the Friendship Group.
Touching upon the blocking of the Lachin Corridor, the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration Arman Yeghoyan mentioned: “Azerbaijan closed the Lachin Corridor and kept 120.000 Armenians under blockade as a tool of blackmail against the Republic of Armenia. The goal of Azerbaijan is to get something from Armenia for opening the road. This is terrorism of international scale towards peaceful population and the Republic of Armenia.” The deputy underscored that Armenia is not going to fulfill their demands.
Arman Yeghoyan expressed hope that steps will be undertaken aimed at the settlement of the issue by the colleagues of Europe.
The Head of Slovenia-Armenia Friendship Group Dean Premik noted that he is the Deputy Chair of the Committee on Foreign Policy and he will share the information with his colleagues.
The member of Slovenia-Armenia Friendship Group Dušan Stojanovič highlighted the detailed presenting of the created situation by Armenia. According to him, it will help the international structures to correctly oriented and make a decision.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Slovenia Ashot Hovakimyan also took part in the meeting.
