“Did I understand correctly that the Ministry of Defense acquired several properties and then alienated Vahe Yakubyan?” Is it possible to know about Yakubyan’s citizenship? Where is that property now? Is it in the bank? Who are the witnesses and the accused? Are there people whose lives may be in danger? Have you ensured their safety? You mention the name of Serzh Sargsyan. Did he give testimony, or did he provide an instruction?” At the session of the National Assembly on February 8, the deputy of the ruling CC faction, Hovik Aghazaryan, inquired from Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan.
As we reported, in the regular session of the 5th session of the 8th convocation of the National Assembly, the third petition of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia on giving consent to initiate a public criminal prosecution against Seyran Ohanyan, deputy of the “Armenia” faction of the National Assembly, former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, was published, according to which Seyran Ohanyan, 2008. Having held the position of Minister of Defense from April to 2016, he used his official position against the interests of the service for the sake of group interests.
The territories belonging to the “Doghvost” company were transferred to a private person. And Seyran Ohanyan illegally, gratuitously, and profitably transferred the substantial immovable properties recorded in the balance sheet of the Ministry of Defense and entrusted to him in his position to another person, stealing them in a wasteful way. Anna Vardapetyan answered: “Yes, the Ministry of Defense acquired three properties. Initially, these properties belonged to the Ministry of Defense, then they were withdrawn from the fund, and then the Ministry of Defense acquired them again. I understand that the issues related to Vahe Yakubyan are attractive to everyone.
Still, I am here to present the petition regarding Seyran Ohanyan, so I cannot give preliminary information about other persons. As for the people whose lives may be in danger at this stage, we do not have such information. If necessary, we will use it. As for Serzh Sargsyan’s instruction, there is Seyran Ohanyan’s handwritten inscription: “we will discuss with the president, I will tell you.” Therefore, there is no direct evidence of the testimony, there is that note, and the third president, yes, testified and was questioned.” Anna Vardapetyan said what happened to the properties: either they were pledged in the bank or owned by some persons.
