“With his statements yesterday, Sargis Khandanyan is against the national security strategy of RA, adopted in July 2020,” Gegham Manukyan, deputy of the “Armenia” faction, said at the regular session of the 5th session of the 8th convocation National Assembly, referring to the fact, that candidate for the NA Foreign Relations Committee Chairman, and deputy of the CC faction, Sargis Khandanyan, did not prove that Turkey is a threat to RA in response to questions.
Gegham Manukyan mentioned: “He not only avoided declaring that Turkey is a state that poses a threat to us but also tried to show the opposite with his colleagues. Meanwhile, Turkey’s anti-Armenian actions are clearly defined in the 2020 national security strategy. Is Turkey a threat to Armenia now or not? It is written in the strategy that Turkey conducts a non-neighborly policy towards Armenia, continuing the blockade of Armenia, refusing to establish diplomatic relations without preconditions, and denying and justifying the Armenian Genocide. The same is going on now.”
Manukyan read another part that, at the same time, Turkey’s military-political support to Azerbaijan further strengthens Azerbaijan’s ambitions to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict militarily. Turkey’s willingness to covertly or overtly intervene in case of initiation of military operations by Azerbaijan is especially problematic.

The deputy emphasized: “2020 In July, the national strategy predicted that Turkey could take a direct part in the military operations, but what was the political force leading the country doing? Makunts said that Turkey would not intervene in military operations if there were a conflict. That is how they ruled the country, dear compatriots.”
Then Gegham Manukyan turned to CP faction deputy Knyaz Hasanov. “There is an earthquake in Turkey, a disaster, and that same Turkey shot Knyaz Hasanov’s compatriots in northern Syria two days ago. Has Turkey remained the same, Mr. Hasanov, or not? Same Turkey refused to accept the aid of the Republic of Cyprus because it discriminates.
Yesterday you reminded me of 1999. After all, at that time, when Turkey raised its head and said something at the level of an ambassador on the subject of Artsakh, it was Armenia who slapped them. Do you compare the Turkey of 1999 with the Turkey that fully participated in the war of 2020? Is it the same?
