At the regular discussion organized by the “Alternative Projects” group, former Deputy Minister of Defense and former National Assembly Deputy Artak Zakaryan answered the question: Nikol Pashinyan is promoting the idea of a peace treaty, and what does the non-governmental system counterbalance it? You cannot say that you are against peace, but we also understand that the existing option does not guarantee either peace or Armenian Artsakh, he said: The question is what is offered instead of peace? Peace is offered instead of peace. In the history of the world, apart from Hitler, no political power proposed war. Even the National Socialists did not propose war. They offered a completely different civilization to society, which they implemented through war.
Of course, the opposition offers peace, but real peace, not the kind of peace where you continue to lose, die, be disgraced, belittled, humiliated, and remain on your knees in the role of a beggar, not understanding who will be the guarantee of that word peace, if you are not yourself, neither is the enemy. A third party is needed to give that guarantee.
And that third party today is, in fact, the Russian Federation, which the so-called power circles of Armenia complain about, sometimes rightly, but not realizing that they are the source of those complaints. Everything in politics is based on the principle of reciprocity.
You can’t set your house on fire and then complain about the firefighter coming late. But it is evident, and everyone can see that the main reason is you because you intentionally started that fire to blame the firefighter. In other words, setting the fire is to blame the fireman, not that you had a reasonable or necessary goal. As for the ideas of the opposition or the collective opposition, it is not that they are a priori or very ethereal.
