“I don’t comment on such people. Sorry, but you name a person who, except for you and a few people close to him, no one takes seriously,” NA Speaker Alen Simonyan answered a journalist’s question about the published document RA-Azerbaijan peace treaty by RPA Vice President Armen Ashotyan, to which the fate of Artsakh and Artsakh Armenians is decided according to the Constitution of Azerbaijan.
On another issue, information is circulating that the Berdzor corridor will be opened, and scanning checkpoints will be installed. Do they correspond to reality? Alen Simonyan replied that he is happy that the legitimate authorities of Artsakh are negotiating and will decide themselves; the RA authorities do not interfere in these matters. He also has no information about who and what from Artsakh are dealing with the representatives of Azerbaijan.
There was also an answer to the question about Yerevan’s position on Ruben Vardanyan’s dismissal from the position of Artsakh State Minister. “Just as he did not have a point of view when Vardanyan was appointed, so does not have a point of view when he was released.” Alen Simonyan clarified that Yerevan had no role or interest in Ruben Vardanyan’s appointment or dismissal. Alen Simonyan also noted that there is progress in the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, responding to the observation that there is talk of switching the negotiations to an online mode, but he cannot reveal them in detail; he can only say that everything is proceeding according to internationally accepted principles.

“We cannot put mines in the Peace Agreement regarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia,” said Alen Simonyan, clarifying that, in his opinion, the Artsakh issue cannot have a place in the clarification of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. At the same time, he does not want an impression to be created that Armenia is giving up on the fate of the people of Artsakh. Regarding Armenia-Turkey relations, he believes that we are very close to normalizing ties for the first time in 30 years; time will tell what will happen.
