“March 1 has been revealed, but the culprits have not been punished yet.” Nikol Pashinyan

March 02,2023 12:20

“March 1 has been revealed, but the culprits have not been punished yet,” RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced to journalists after the opening ceremony of the monument dedicated to the victims of March 1, 2008. Why they are not punished? Nikol Pashinyan answered. “For various reasons, including several legal decisions, you know. The fact that the killers of March 1 have not yet been found does not mean that it will not happen.

March 1, 2008, the preliminary investigation not only did not make all efforts to uncover the crime that occurred but also made all efforts that the discovery or become difficult or impossible. I will remind one episode that the capsules collected from here were later changed within the framework of the criminal case. The original capsules were replaced by other capsules, and many other such issues. One can imagine the consequences of all this. But that doesn’t matter; as far as I can take a position on law enforcement, my position is that we need to achieve full and complete disclosure.”

Nikol Pashinyan replied to the journalist’s question, with what conviction did he once announce that the case was solved? “I declare today with the same conviction that it has been revealed. You know, there was a criminal case, there was a trial. It was cut short by legal interpretations, which is a different matter. When I say revealed, I mean the reality, what sequence of steps happened. Finally, let’s not forget that within the framework of this criminal case, it was found that squads were formed, it was found out that illegal payments were made, and it was done under the auspices of the army. The main people responsible were in court, but under known circumstances, an attempt was made to do so. I don’t want to comment on final legal decisions; a decision has been made, and we all have to take note, including the decision of the Constitutional Court and those decisions that are not appealable. March 1 is revealed at least up to the level of the performers. The actual performers are unknown, and how the rest of the chains worked is revealed.”

Nikol Pashinyan answered the question: is it possible that all of this will be openly presented to the public in the future? “Those questions are not for me to answer. I’ve already said that my position is that it should all be revealed. It is a problem of the law enforcement officers; they should solve that problem.”
