March 09,2023 17:15

On March 8, in the framework of the Ministerial Session of the Council of the League of Arab States, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan met with Ayman Al-Safadi, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The Foreign Ministers discussed issues on the Armenia-Jordan bilateral agenda and exchanged views on the prospects of developing mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Ayman Al-Safadi touched upon issues on the expansion of political dialogue, emphasizing the importance of high-level visits and active cooperation on international platforms.

Regional and international security issues were also on the agenda of the meeting.

The Foreign Minister of Armenia briefed his counterpart on the efforts of the Armenian side towards normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and establishing peace and stability in the region. Both sides highlighted the importance of settling existing conflicts exclusively through negotiations and dialogue.

In the context of the security situation in the South Caucasus and current challenges, Minister Mirzoyan underlined that the speculations of the religious factor by Azerbaijan, as well as its groundless attempts to disrupt the traditionally warm relations between Armenia and the Armenian people on one side and the Arab world on the other, are unacceptable.

Touching upon the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan, Minister Mirzoyan stressed the imperative of resolving the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and unblocking the corridor in accordance with the provisions of the 2020 November 9 Statement.
