“One of the most important issues is not just maintaining existence, but also understanding where we are going in the new situation, what answers we should give to the challenges. Eight years ago, with Noubar Afeyan, we started “Aurora” this very day. And now, being in Artsakh, I feel more acutely the importance of the things on which we united with Noubar,” said Ruben Vardanyan, co-founder of the “Future Armenian” foundation and the “Aurora” humanitarian initiative, former Minister of State of Artsakh, at the opening of the “Future Armenian” forum.
“I hear a lot that they say: let’s do something. This blockade showed something essential: it is a lie that Armenians only think about eating and filling their stomachs. Armenians have a demand to have discussions about ideas. An Armenian should believe that his existence as an Armenian is essential. You have to believe in the leaders, and you can’t do that by filling stores with food or talking about money. The idea is essential. The struggle continues in Artsakh every day. I am sure that without a vision, nothing will be achieved. Unfortunately, I am not present at the conference, but it will play an essential role in finding answers to the questions.”
Ruben Vardanyan says nothing will be achieved without returning to the idea and national values. “If we do not understand that the idea allowed the Armenian nation to live and create for thousands of years, we will not succeed. We have a responsibility to our fallen soldiers and future children. We need to give them not only money, a house, and a car, but also a life with dignity and Armenian values, in which they will be happy, independent, and confident in the future.”
