Oscars 2023: ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ dominates. Full list of winners

/abc7- “Everything Everywhere All At Once” lived up to its title Sunday night at the Oscars, with the film taking home gold in seven categories, including best picture, best actress for Michelle Yeoh and best directors for the Daniels.

Top headlines

  • “Everything Everywhere All At Once” took home prizes for best picture, best director, best directors and three out of four acting categories, including best actress for Michelle Yeoh, making her the first Asian woman to win the award.
  • Brendan Fraser took home the Oscar for actor in a leading role for his performance in “The Whale.”
  • The German film “All Quiet on the Western Front” won for best international picture, production design, original score and cinematography. The movie’s victory reflected the success of the original 1930 American film, which won Oscars for best picture and best director.

  • Danai Gurira paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman at the Oscars: “Chadwick embodied the Wakandan King, T’Challa. The one chosen to uplift, to protect, to keep us safe. His legacy will live on for future generations…Thank you, King.”

Kimmel kicked off the 2023 Oscars at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles by parachuting in to Hollywood’s biggest night in an homage to “Top Gun: Maverick.” In his opening monologue, he also took aim at last year’s infamous “slap.”

“We want you to have fun, we want you to feel safe, and most importantly, we want me to feel safe,” he said, referring to Will Smith’s slapping of Chris Rock. “So we have strict policies in place. If anyone in this theater commits an act of violence at any point in this show, you will be awarded the Oscar for best actor and permitted to give a 19-minute long speech.”
