Parliament Hosts Delegation of Germany-South Caucasus Friendship Group of the Bundestag of Germany

We highlight the dynamic relations of Armenia-Germany relations and the activation of the inter-parliamentary ties: the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs, the Head of Armenia-Germany Friendship Group Vladimir Vardanyan noted during the meeting held with the delegation led by the Deputy Chair of Germany-South Caucasus Friendship Group of the Bundestag of Germany Tabea Rößner on March 20.

Tabea Rößner thanked her Armenian colleagues for warm reception and noted that being a newly created Parliamentary Group, which is responsible in the cooperation with the countries of the region, pays the first visit to Armenia. She informed that during the visit of the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Germany recently they had an opportunity also to communicate with the Armenian parliamentarians. Tabea Rößner expressed hope that this visit to Armenia will promote more activation of cooperation between the parliaments.

Heads of With Honor and Armenia Factions of the National Assembly Hayk Mamijanyan and Seyran Ohanyan highlighted the statement made by the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to which, the Nagorno Karabakh conflict should be settled through peaceful means, on the basis of territorial integrity and equal principles of right to self-determination of Nagorno Karabakh people.

Hayk Mamijanyan drew his German colleagues’ attention to the necessity of controlling the genocidal actions being prepared in Nagorno Karabakh by Azerbaijan. The MP also touched upon the issue regarding our compatriots’ destiny being held in Baku.

Seyran Ohanyan noted that the war actions, provocations and encroachments committed by Azerbaijan towards Nagorno Karabakh were carried out exclusively against the idea of self-determination of Nagorno Karabakh people.

A reference was made to the humanitarian situation created in Nagorno Karabakh because of illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, the consistent attention and response of the international community in that issue was emphasized.

The members of Armenia-Germany Friendship Group as the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan, the Deputy Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan, the Head of the NA Armenia Faction Seyran Ohanyan, the Head of the NA With Honor Faction Hayk Mamijanyan, the deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Hripsime Grigoryan and the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Federal Republic of Germany Viktor Yengibaryan took part in the meeting.
