March 24,2023 17:30

During March 23 parliamentary briefings, the Head of the NA Armenia Faction Seyran Ohanyan touched upon their drafts proposed for debate in the NA sittings: the NA draft decisions on Military-Political Aggression, Terrorist and Provocative Steps Being Implemented against the Nagorno Karabakh Republic by Azerbaijan, Closing of Berdzoe (Lachin) Corridor and on Applying to the Constitutional Court (CC) on Terminating the Powers of the Judge of the Constitutional Court Seda Safaryan, presenting the reasons on not being adopted them by parliament.

Seyran Ohanyan noted that on the first days of closing the Lachin Corridor, the Armenia Faction initiated the NA Draft Statement, but instead of that, the draft authored by the NA majority, pushing the draft of the Armenia Faction to the background.

The Head of the Faction considered unacceptable the debate of the peace agenda by the RA authorities in the created military-political complicated situation. To his characterization, that is a false agenda, as today Azerbaijan continues its provocations, pressures and the military ambitions against Armenia and Artsakh.

Regarding the issues related to the CC Judge Seda Safaryan, Artsvik Minasyan noted that the Civil Contract Faction could through other way, voting for the draft, as a result of which, the application would go the Court by parliament and the Court would make its decision, would not be subject to revocation.

How is the resuming of military actions and the signing of peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan possible, especially when that opportunity the US State Secretary Antony Blinken considered very soon? Answering to the journalist’s question, Seyran Ohanyan clarified that any inter-state treaty should be ratified by the National Assembly. “One goes to peace with a little dignified posture, protecting the interests of your country. They go to peace in the conditions, when the conflicting and warring two states agreed to become together neigbouring states with readiness of liv with readiness of peaceful coexistence. Do the actions of Azerbaijan in this situation speak about the fact that they can live in peaceful coexistence with the Republic of Armenia,” Seyran Ohanyan, reminding them about the compulsions, pressures, actions fearing with war by Azerbaijan.

He added that the geopolitical developments, the regional events, the strategic joint actions of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem, as well as the concrete preparatory action being carrying out by Azerbaijan, the situation in general in the South Caucasus speak about a fact that today we are in a rather complicated military-political situation. And the probability of war should be in any period. “I am saying this not for scaring our compatriots, but also for readiness that eventually we should come together and go to defend their own land,” Seyran Ohanyan said.

In response to the question what aim have the Azerbaijani armed forces, Seyran Ohanyan said that only the person, who has serious reconnaissance data about the adversary, can give an assessment, and that is considered to be the authorities.

“The current geopolitical developments, the situation of the relationship between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and also the thing is that Azerbaijan takes appropriate actions in the region, speak about the fact in any time clashes can take place,” the Head of the Faction noted.

In response to the journalist’s journalist, which referred to the viewpoint of the Faction on the participation in the Q&A session with the Government, Artsvik Minasyan said that in the near future at the sitting of parliament the annual report of the Government will be debated, where the Armenia Faction will take part, as they have many questions on the report.
