/TASS/. Tehran does not want tensions and is not seeking any confrontation with Washington, Iran’s top diplomat Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said at a news conference following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday.
“We do not want tensions either, and we are seeking no confrontation,” the Iranian foreign minister assured, when asked to comment on the recent tensions between Iran and the United States.
The Iranian diplomat slammed as baseless US allegations about recent attacks by “groups close to Iran” on a US military base and attacks on it with the use of Iranian drones. Abdollahian said the United States “always makes baseless, ungrounded allegations and blames others” before presenting documents to back up its accusations.
“The Islamic Republic [of Iran] has always played a positive and constructive role in sustainable peace and security in the region,” the Iranian foreign minister said as he described Tehran’s response to the US side as “resolute and candid.”
