At the “Report on the Assessment of Artsakh’s Economic Losses Due to the Blockade” presentation in Yerevan, international public finance management consultant Vardan Aramyan announced: “Economically, it is indisputable that the longer the blockade, the more the economic potential of Artsakh deteriorates. The day after tomorrow, we may have a situation where there will be no economic life in Artsakh. There will be direct consumption. In other words, the money will come from abroad, the people of Artsakh will consume only certain goods brought from abroad, and that’s it. That is a serious problem.”
According to Vardan Aramyan, to avoid such shocks in economic life, it is necessary to create food, financial, and medicine buffers in Artsakh. “Azerbaijan, let’s say, cuts off the gas or sabotages. Naturally, alternative sources should be created. For the people of Artsakh to have food security for at least a few months, there should be an opportunity to stockpile wheat and medicine.”
