The delegation led by the NA President Alen Simonyan met with the President of the Saxon State Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Matthias Rößler in Dresden.
The necessity of deepening the inter-parliamentary cooperation and the distribution of opportunities for the development of parliamentary diplomacy were underscored at the meeting. Concrete proposals were made regarding this, in particular, exchange of experience between the Committees dealing with financial and budgetary affairs of the National Assembly of Armenia and the Saxon State Parliament.
The German colleague noted that due to various positions, he had the opportunity to study facts regarding the history and culture of Armenia. He underlined that he is ready to exchange the accumulated experience in issues related to democracy, adding that they are ready to get acquainted with the instructive experience of Armenia in the spheres of education and culture.
At the request of the President of the Saxon State Parliament, the RA NA President gave details about the security issues facing the region and Armenia, presenting the aspirations of Azerbaijan against the RA sovereign territory, the multipolar problems caused by the Lachin crisis. He reminded his colleague that more than two years after the signing of the trilateral statement of 9 November 2020, Azerbaijan still refuses to return all Armenian prisoners of war, hostages and arrested persons. The RA NA President spoke about the necessity of applying sanctions against Azerbaijan and expected appropriate responses of the international colleagues.
