The delegation led by the RA NA President met with the Chairman of the Committee on European Union Affairs of the Bundestag Anton Hofreiter and the member of the Committee. At the meeting, the NA President gave a speech and answered the questions, Alen Simonyan noted that the faithfulness to European values, the development of partnership with the countries of the European Union has been and continues remaining one of the important directions of the foreign policy domain for Armenia.
Alen Simonyan underscored that today the dynamic development of the Armenian-German cooperation has a primary place in the foreign policy of Armenia, and the inter-parliamentary relations is of special importance on the bilateral agenda.
Highlighting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the international relations, he said that Armenia in turning to the full parliamentary government system, the experience of Germany, the country with the established parliamentary traditions is exemplary.

The RA NA President documented that the signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with the European Union and entering it into force was an important step in more deepening the RA-EU relations and in the further support of reforms in Armenia.
“Today, challenges of security face us. The peace of the region is endangered. It is an evident and reasoned truth that the Artsakh wars unleashed by Azerbaijan also had a goal of destruction of cultural identity and history. He stated the irreversible consequences of 44-day war of 2020 and the attacks against the sovereign territory of Armenia by Azerbaijan. “We expect from our international colleagues immediate and addressed response to the illegal actions of Azerbaijan. To our deep conviction, the use of force cannot promote the establishment of the atmosphere of trust and peace,” the NA President noted.
He emphasized the circumstance of deploying the EU long-term monitoring mission, thanked the Government of Germany for their contribution made in the mission deployment.
The German colleagues mentioned that they greatly attached importance to the deepening of relationship with our country and take visible steps in that direction, adding that there is political dialogue of high level between the two countries, which should be continuously strengthened and used also in other directions for developing the cooperation. They asked questions on existential problems of the blockaded Artsakh Armenians, the role of Armenia in the noticeable polarization conditions in the region and the policy promoting the European integration.
