Leader of the ”Hayastan” faction, former Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan, spoke about the border situation and Nikol Pashinyan’s statements in a briefing with journalists at Yrablur Pantheon the other day. He said that the military-political situation is such that regional developments can be affected by all geopolitical events. The regional neighbors and adversaries can take advantage of it, and they do.
“Their pressure is aimed at the depopulation of Artsakh, and they tighten the ring around Armenia to get what they are fighting for, and to be in a better position on the border adjustment line, and the opening of those roads in the Syunik sector, the opening of the corridor. For us, there is only one way: serious work must be done to form the security system. And for this, national and international guarantees should be formed.” According to Ohanyan, the national guarantee is our army, economy, cohesion, our entire security system: “And the international guarantee is a wide-ranging foreign policy with serious negotiation tactical and strategic steps.”
In response to the journalist’s question about the 11,000 defectors of the Prime Minister’s wife, Anna Hakobyan, Ohanyan said, “I don’t want to talk about his family members.” Then referring to Pashinyan’s statement that we lost the war because the 5th column was active in the army, Ohanyan said: “And what did the government do to prevent the formation of the 5th column during the 44-day war and after that?” They didn’t do anything; they didn’t use the law enforcement system to stop those illegalities, chaos, and escape during the war. It means that if there is a 5th column, there is also a 6th column, Nikol Pashinyan, who encouraged all of them with his entire system. And if they were to think seriously about the army. If there were flaws in the military, and the most significant flaws were in the state, they did not put the state on military rails to support the army and have victory.”
Regarding Pashinyan’s statement about purchasing weapons, Ohanyan said: “Only during my leadership, 1,500 aircraft weapons and military equipment were imported mainly from the Russian Federation and other countries. That is why they should do a serious analysis when they say something. It is written in their program that they should examine the circumstances of the war. Two years have passed, they have not done anything, and they want to point the arrows only in the direction of the army, which is not the right direction. Arrows must be pointed in the direction of all branches of government; an assessment must be made of what the legislature has done, what the executive has done, state and military administration, and what the law enforcement agencies and the entire judicial system have done to maintain legality on the battlefield and in the depths of the country”.
