On April 5, Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan received the delegation led by Davor Ivo Stier, Head of the Croatia-Armenia friendship group of the Croatian Parliament.
Welcoming the visit of Croatian parliamentarians to Armenia, the Deputy Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of active inter-parliamentary contacts in the development of Armenian-Croatian relations. Paruyr Hovhannisyan highly appreciated the friendship group’s position on issues of vital importance for Armenia and the raising of these issues both in the Croatian parliament and on international inter-parliamentary platforms.
The interlocutors discussed a number of issues on the Armenian-Croatian relations, including parliamentary cooperation.
During the meeting, regional security and peace issues were touched upon. The Deputy Minister briefed on the situation unfolded in the region as a result of Azerbaijan’s aggression against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the details of the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from the blockade of the Lachin corridor since December, 2022. The importance of the decision adopted on February 22 by the International Court of Justice was underscored, according to which, Azerbaijan should take all necessary measures to ensure the unimpeded movement of people, vehicles and cargo in both directions through the Lachin corridor.
