Chaired by Chief of Staff the Prime Minister, chairman of the interdepartmental commission for the preparation and organization of the European Adult Weightlifting Championship-2023, Arayik Harutyunyan, a session of the commission took place today.
“There are 10 days left for the opening of the European Weightlifting Championship, and with this meeting we will summarize the work done, the last instructions will be given. During this period, we worked with the Armenian Weightlifting Federation to organize the event. Yesterday I visited the “Kilikia” sports school, which will be the main training hall of these competitions. We don’t have a similar renovated, reconstructed hall with similar accommodations in Armenia. After the weightlifting championship, the gymnasium will serve as a badminton and tennis gymnasium and, in fact, after renovation, it will be handed over to Yerevan City Hall,” said Arayik Harutyunyan.
During the meeting, the works done were summed up, the next steps in the direction of current preparatory works were clarified, security, meeting of athletes, delegations and other technical issues were discussed.
Arayik Harutyunyan once again emphasized the necessity and importance of holding the European Senior Weightlifting Championship in Armenia at a proper level.

The championship will take place on April 15-23 at the K. Demirchayn Sports and Concert Complex. The opening ceremony of the championship will be on April 14.
