On April 12, the Head of the RA NA With Honor Faction Hayk Mamijanyan and the Chair of the NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Taguhi Tovmasyan hosted the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Martina Schmidt, the Head of the Department for Human Rights, Justice and Legal Cooperation Standard-setting activities at the Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe Nicola Daniele Kanjemi and the Head of the Human Rights and Biomedicine Division of the Council of Europe Laurence Lwoff.
Welcoming the attendees, Hayk Mamijanyan touched upon the humanitarian crisis created in Artsakh, the problems of the local Armenians, as well as highlighted the joint work of the Council of Europe and the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia and the necessity of raising awareness on human rights in the sphere of biomedicine and the European standards of the ethical principles in our country.
Speaking about the security problem, the Head of the Faction expressed confidence that security guarantee can be the exclusively the solution of the status problem, the exercise of the right to Artsakh people’s self-determination.
