During the question-and-answer session between the Government and the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, referring to the statements of the third President of the Republic of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, that the army was more combat-ready until 2018 and more money was allocated for defense. Nikol Pashinyan mentioned that it is impossible that we will hear from any soldier that there was a shortage of weapons during the 44-day war.
“It is excluded. Some military personnel left the warehouses with billions of weapons and ran away. Why didn’t you see the footage that the Azerbaijanis were publishing videos of the captured military unit, full of weapons, in the warehouses? And don’t we remember what the problem was in 2016? In 2016, the Prime Minister said from this podium that there was a problem with diesel fuel. I’m sorry, weren’t we in the opposition during the war? Show us a critical word. We were in the opposition but not the “5th column”. We have not been a political power controlled by foreign countries.
Moreover, today I conclude that the entire officer class was morally broken by being made to work under the command of certain generals and their work schemes. Today we bear the consequences of all that.”
