“Nikol Pashinyan’s approach is too realistic. The Prime Minister has more information; it was probably necessary to talk about it now,” said political scientist Robert Ghevondyan in a conversation with Aravot.am, referring to the statements of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the political scientist, the prime minister’s words about future ambitions were significant, the fact that the Republic of Armenia will not have territorial ambitions towards Azerbaijan also in the future.
It is also related to the Armenia-Turkey process, within which we remember that Turkey set conditions, one of which was to recognize the current borders. And the former authorities refused; if I am not mistaken, the Second President spoke about leaving this problem to the future. Probably, Nikol Pashinyan sees that today there is a real danger for the current Republic of Armenia, and that is why he makes such statements,” said the political scientist.

According to him, it is also necessary to consider the actual situation. And the case is as follows: in the region where we could have historical ambitions, the number of Armenian ethnic units is many times inferior to the number of other ethnic units, be it Kurds, Turks, or Azerbaijanis.
Therefore, even talking about future ambitions at this moment can be dangerous. If the time comes when we will be at least comparable in number to the citizens of the Turkish state, at least 30-40 million, then it will not matter what we announced today; we can raise those ambitions again. In other words, it is possible to develop, progress and maintain opportunities to reach the level of my dream of 29 thousand 800 square kilometers only, as Nikol Pashinyan mentioned, to assure the world that we have no ambitions and will not have any,” he added.
